Dropbox Functions

As of 10/28/2015, the WUSTL Dropbox Service has been decommissioned.  To perform similar functions using the new WUSTL Box service, please follow the instructions below:

Dropping off a file for a Washington University faculty, staff, or student:

  1. Login to WUSTL Box using your WUSTL Key at box.wustl.edu/login
  2. Drag-and-drop the file onto your WUSTL Box file view area and wait for the file to finish uploading
  3. Next to the uploaded file, click the “More Options” (small triangle) button and select “Share”
  4. On the sharing window:
    • Under the “Access” drop-down, select “People in your company”
    • Under the “Set Link Expiration” menu, select a link expiration if desired
  5. Copy the generated Link, and then click the “Close” button
  6. Send the link via email to your intended recipient(s)

Dropping off a file for a someone outside of Washington University:

  1. Login to WUSTL Box using your WUSTL Key at box.wustl.edu/login
  2. Drag-and-drop the file onto your WUSTL Box file view area and wait for the file to finish uploading
  3. Next to the uploaded file, click the “More Options” (small triangle) button and select “Share”
  4. On the sharing window:
    1. Under the “Access” drop-down, select “People with the link”
    2. Under the “Set Link Expiration” menu, select a link expiration if desired
  5. Copy the generated Link, and then click the “Close” button
  6. Send the link via email to your intended recipient(s)

Picking up a file that has been dropped off for you:

  1. Click on the sharing link that was sent to you via email and login using your WUSTL Key
  2. A preview of the file will be displayed – click on the “Download” (down arrow) button to download a copy of the file

Dropping off a file for someone at Washington University if you are an external collaborator:

  1. Create a free, personal Box account by visiting app.box.com and clicking “Create account”
  2. Once your account is created and you are logged in, drag-and-drop the file onto your Box file view area and wait for the file to finish uploading
  3. Next to the uploaded file, click the “More Options” (small triangle) button and select “Share”
  4. On the sharing window:
    1. Under the “Access” drop-down, select “People with the link”
    2. Under the “Set Link Expiration” menu, select a link expiration if desired
    3. Click on the “Email” tab, and enter in the @wustl.edu email address of your intended recipient (Note: do NOT use departmental email addresses such as person@department.wustl.edu)
    4. Click “Send”
